Asylum
The Performance Arcade 2016
Co-created and Directed by Francesca Emms
The Performance Arcade, Wellington Waterfront
30 Upstairs Gallery
The refugee crisis is unfolding before us and many New Zealanders will already have opinions on our place in this tragedy. The aim of ASYLUM is to get people thinking and talking about these issues on a global, local and personal scale. ASYLUM is an important, current and innovative work created by Amelia Taverner and Francesca Emms. ASYLUM is a work that invites the public to take a couple of steps in someone else’s shoes. If participants begin to understand even a small part of the fear, frustration or confusion that people who are forced to flee their homes feel, then ASYLUM will have succeeded.
